Where has the growth been? In the Global South. A century ago, the Global North had four times as many believers than the South, now the South has 61 percent of Christians compared to 39 percent in the North.
More than a third (37%) of all believers live in the Americas, this up from 27% in 1910. The three countries in the world with the highest number of Christians are in the Americas: United States, Brazil, and Mexico, these three make up 24% of the world’s total. Brazil itself has twice as many Catholics as Italy.
